Formula and method

Required conversions = income target ÷ commission per conversion. Required clicks = conversions ÷ (conversion rate ÷ 100). Required visitors = clicks ÷ (CTR ÷ 100). Required merchant revenue = conversions × order value.

Worked example

A £1,000 commission target at £10 per conversion requires 100 expected conversions. With 2% conversion and 5% CTR, plan for 5,000 clicks and 100,000 visitors.

How to interpret your results

Use this to test whether a traffic requirement looks feasible. Try your own conversion assumptions rather than treating the target as a guaranteed outcome. For a daily schedule, use Income Goal.

Assumptions and edge cases

The target is affiliate income before costs. All rates apply to the same planning period. Percentage commission needs order value; fixed commission can work without it. Zero rates or commission can make reverse targets undefined.

Frequently asked questions

Can this predict how quickly traffic will grow?

No. It calculates the traffic required under your assumptions, not the acquisition effort or time needed to achieve that traffic.
